CLIP-Based Visual Search

Our search uses CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training), a neural network developed by OpenAI (arxiv.org/abs/2103.00020). Unlike pixel-matching approaches, CLIP encodes images into semantic embeddings that capture style, aesthetics, and visual characteristics. This allows it to find visually similar profiles even when the reference image looks nothing like the indexed photos at a pixel level.

How the technology works:

  1. 1When you upload an image, our AI converts it into a mathematical representation called an 'embedding' — a vector of 512 numbers that captures the visual essence of the image.
  2. 2This embedding is compared against pre-computed embeddings of all indexed creator profile images in our database.
  3. 3Creators with the most similar visual characteristics are returned as results, ranked by similarity score.

What it CANNOT do: Identify specific individuals, guarantee exact matches, handle heavily filtered or low-quality images well, or find someone based on personality traits. Results get less accurate with close-ups, group photos, or images where the subject is partially obscured.
